Manumission Tour

Adult Forum Field Trip in Old Town, Alexandria

The Adult Formation Committee has planned a field trip for Saturday, May 13th.  We will be participating in a Manumission* Tour, run out of Old Town Alexandria.  The 90 minute walking tour highlights sites related to history and retells the stories of African Americans, both enslaved & free, at a time when Alexandria was one of early America’s main centers for international and domestic slave trade.

Knowledge promotes Understanding!!

This private tour is limited to 20 participants for maximum hearing and participation.  The tour will start at 12:00 noon at the Barrett Library, 717 Queen St. Alexandria, VA, and conclude on King St. at the Alexandria waterfront. The cost of the tour is $15 for adults & $10 for children under 13.  Interested parties should sign up on the sheet posted in the Richardson Room no later than April 23, 2017.  Please indicate your willingness to drive or your need for a ride.  Nearby parking can be reserved through Parking Panda for $5.00 for the day.  Checks for the tour should be made out to St. Barnabas’ with Manumission Tour on the memo line and left in the accompanying envelope.
